Over the past 30 years attorney James (Jim) Knibbs has honed his skills in a wide variety of litigation settings. He rose from public service as a prosecutor with the Cook County State’s Attorneys’ office to the partnership rank of highly respected Chicago litigation firms where he was the lead trial attorney in numerous multi-million dollar cases including large catastrophic fire and explosion cases. Among his many results, he settled a large electric utility collapse case for $26.9 million. Jim brings a unique and wide-ranging perspective to the team.

James (Jim) Knibbs has been a trial lawyer and litigator for over 30 years and has recently joined the McNabola Law Group.  Jim served as a Cook County prosecutor and later became a partner at three Chicago litigation firms, where he litigated a wide variety of cases nationwide, including large catastrophic fire and explosion cases. Successes included a $26.9 million plaintiff’s recovery for his clients in a large electric utility collapse case, several other million dollar-plus plaintiff results, and numerous trial wins for his clients.  In addition, Jim served in a number of key positions in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, including heading the Public Corruption and Financial Crimes Unit. 

Jim’s expansive background in litigation, including defending cases, provides Jim with valuable insight, experience, and tools to obtain successful verdicts and settlements for personal injury victims and the families of victims of wrongful death.

The doctors and nurses failed to develop and implement an appropriate plan to manage blood thinning medications pre and post-operatively leading to severe clotting and tissue death. Trucking Negligence - A young girl was killed when she was struck by a vehicle that had previously collided with a bus that was traveling too fast for conditions. After a ten-day jury trial, a Cook County jury returned a verdict in favor of the family. According to the Jury Verdict Reporter, this is a record high verdict for the wrongful death of a minor in a motor vehicle accident. There was no offer for settlement by any defendant.

As a result of the defendant’s failure to safely route traffic in the area the man was pinned against his truck by a driver. The defendant did not offer any money to settle the case.
